Hello everyone! I started my blog with this review in Spanish and now I'm
going to translate it into English. The Thousandth Floor by Katharine
McGee is the first book I read in 2018. I wanted to read it last year,
and now that I did it, I am very impressed. It’s one of my favourite
books.
This
book drives you to a luxurious and futuristic society that
Katharine McGee gives us, which entangles and bring us to a series of
intriguing events beginning with the fall of a girl from the highest floor of
that society.
Her
writing skills are very good, she doesn't beat about the bush
so it's easy to read, she’s not like other writers that use to digress in the
descriptions, Katharine McGee goes directly to the action so we can understand
rapidly what she wants to say.
The story is set in the year 2118, with a cutting-edge and
very advanced technology. The society is divided in social classes, the richer
families live on the upper floors; and in the lower floors live the poorest
families.
The book is about a girl who falls down from the last floor of
the New York's Tower. The prologue describes the fall. All the events that
happened two months before the fall are narrated in the first chapter,
explaining why and how the girl fall down.
There are five narrators, Avery, Leda, Eris, Watt and Rylin.
The story is told in third person from the point of view of each of them.
Through the chapters we can observe the evolution of the characters, how they
think and the personality of each one of them.
The novel has a pretty fast rhythm that hooks you from
the beginning. If you really like Gossip Girl or Pretty Little Liars,
you are going to love this book, 'cause it has that kind of essence.
This book explains us a society full of secrets, treason,
betrayal and love. You will fall in love with the book and his characters.
It captivates you so much that you need to go on reading until you finish the
book.
Well fellas, that was all. I hope you read this amazing and wonderful
book full of secrets and love. If
you don’t, you're missing an awesome book!
5/5
